Congenital Duodenal Stenosis

Abstract
A 6-day-old premature infant was admitted to the Han Yang University Hospital for continuous bile stained vomiting and epigastric distention on Sept. 19, 1972.
X-ray studies revealed obstruction of duodenojejunal junction area by double air bubble and closed loop appearance. No definite evidence of pass through the contrast media into the jejunum on fluoroscopically and initial film, but delayed film showed contrast media in the terminal ileum.
Duodenal obstruction in the newborn is a congenital anomaly which needs emergency operation. After correction of general condition and preoperative care, on the 2nd week after his admission, operation was taken under anesthesia. At exploratory laparatorny, a diaphragmatic stenosis which had a minute opening was resected and the duodenostomy was closed transversely.
The baby did well, was fed by mouth and had no further vomiting.
The purpose of this, paper is to present the author¢¥s recent experience with a case of the congenital diaphragmatic duodenal stenosis which was treated surgically. Our study and surgical experience was discussed and literature reviewed.
